Abstract: This report was developed within the Final Project course unit of the Degree in Interior Design and Equipment, at the School of Applied Arts of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. The project focuses on the rehabilitation of a three bedroom (T3) apartment of approximately 150 sqm, located on the fourth floor of a building between Avenida da Liberdade and Praça do Marquês de Pombal, in Lisbon — an area marked by the predominance of tertiary uses and a shortage of housing. Starting from a space previously adapted for short-term accommodation, characterized by excessive compartmentalization and by deficient lighting and ventilation, the intervention seeks to reintroduce the residential function and to respond to a contemporary way of living. The work is structured around the characterization of the urban, social and housing context of the area, the definition of a target audience and a reference persona, the architectural and natural-lighting diagnosis, and the analysis of case studies and applicable legislation. Based on this research, a proposal is developed that balances preservation and contemporaneity: the apartment is organized according to a clear hierarchy between social and private areas, guided by the natural light of each façade, and adopts a sober material palette rooted in Lisbon's identity - oak wood, lioz limestone, relief tiles and brushed brass. As a distinctive element, a bespoke piece of furniture is designed - the Hidden Creative Station - an integrated workstation that meets the user's remote-working needs without compromising the domestic atmosphere. The result aims to meet the requirements of comfort, functionality and aesthetic quality of a contemporary, cosmopolitan way of urban living.
