Abstract This Final Internship Report was prepared as part of the Internship Course Unit within the second year of the Higher Professional Technical Course in Educational Recreation for Children at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. The internship took place at the "O Pimpão" institution in Castelo Branco, covering nursery, daycare, and preschool settings, thereby allowing for interaction with children ranging from four months to six years of age. The primary objective of this internship was to consolidate knowledge acquired during academic training by applying it in a real-world context, while developing personal, pedagogical, and professional skills. Concurrently, the aim was to foster the children's holistic development through recreational and educational activities tailored to different age groups, encouraging autonomy, creativity, participation, discovery, and interaction. The methodology adopted was based on direct and continuous observation of the children, active participation in the institution's daily routines, and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various pedagogical activities. The interventions carried out always took into account the characteristics, interests, and individual needs of each group, prioritizing strategies that promoted active participation and meaningful learning. The report also includes a theoretical framework supporting the educational practice, as well as a description of the institution, its facilities, and the various groups of children. Throughout the internship, it was possible to develop skills in observation, planning, organization, communication, teamwork, and critical reflection on educational practice. Exposure to different contexts and age groups contributed to a better understanding of the various stages of child development and the importance of tailoring educational interventions to each child's needs. Despite the challenges inherent in adapting to different groups and managing activities, these difficulties were progressively overcome through experience, guidance from the educational team, and continuous reflection. In conclusion, the internship was an extremely enriching experience that allowed for the achievement of the initially defined objectives and reinforced the motivation to pursue a professional career in the field of early childhood. This experience contributed significantly to the development of technical, pedagogical, and interpersonal skills—essential for performing the role of a Higher Professional Technician in Educational Recreation for Children and for continuing education in the field.
