Cuidados veterinários em animais de companhia e animais de produção

Abstract

O estágio curricular do Curso Técnico Superior Profissional em Cuidados Veterinários, decorreu no Centro Veterinário São Mamede, em Portalegre. Teve início no dia 20 de janeiro de 2020 e término a 27 de junho de 2020. O Centro Veterinário São Mamede não funciona como uma clínica veterinária, o grande foco são animais de produção e trabalho de campo, por isso as suas instalações são unicamente compostas por um escritório, devidamente organizado com o material necessário. Houve algumas intervenções em animais de companhia, mas foram todas urgências, e foi a equipa a deslocar-se ao local. No presente relatório é feita, de forma sucinta, uma descrição do local de estágio, funcionamento, estrutura e instalações. Hoje a familiarização com a parte prática da área da veterinária é muito maior, principalmente ao nível dos animais de produção e espécies pecuárias, o que nos permite estar mais à vontade no desempenhar das funções e/ou tarefas. Os animais de produção são uma área de muito interesse, por isso, estes meses de trabalho foram bastantes importantes e erriquecedores. Ao longo do presente relatório, serão descritas mais detalhadamente as tarefas e atividades presenciadas e realizadas. Durante o período de estágio foi possível trabalhar e aprender com todos os Médicos Veterinários do Centro Veterinário São Mamede, e dessa forma conseguimos interiorizar diferentes conceitos e formas de abordagem a casos que surjam. Pois cada um deles tem a sua área de interesse/ especialidade, animais de companhia, espécies pecuárias e equinos, e isso tornou bastante vasta a oportunidade de aprendizagem. Abstract: The curricular internship, part of the Veterinary Care Senior Technician Course, took place at São Mamede Veterinary Center, in Portalegre. It began on the 20th January 2010 and ended on the 27th June 2020. São Mamede Veterinary Center isn’t a clinic, its main focus is farm and field animals, therefore its facilities contain only an office, properly organized with all the necessary equipment. Eventually there were some interventions in pets, but they were all urgent and we went to the place where our help was needed. This report contains a brief description of the internship location, operation, structure and facilities. Nowadays the knowledge on the practical part of the veterinary field is greater, mainly regarding the farm animals and livestock species, which allows me to be more comfortable performing the functions and/ or tasks. Personally, I find farming animals a very interesting subject, therefore, these last working months were not only very important but also enriching. Throughout this report, the tasks and activities witnessed and performed will be described in more detail. During the internship period I was able to work and learn from all the veterinary surgeons at São Mamede Veterinary Center, and this way I was able to learn different concepts and ways of approaching cases that came up. Each of them has their own area of interest / expertise, companion animals, livestock and equine species, and this has enlarged my learning opportunity.
