Abstract : This academic project explores the creation of ice skating costumes inspired by the visual and narrative universe of the film Barbie: "The Princess and the Pauper". The proposal starts from the central duality of the work, such as the distinction between royalty and rural simplicity, as a conceptual axis for the development of pieces that reconcile aesthetics, functionality, and performance. The research addresses the translation of iconic elements from the film, such as contrasting color palettes, delicate textures, and romantic silhouettes, to the technical context of figure skating. Factors such as mobility, lightness, aerodynamics, and material resistance are considered, ensuring that the costumes not only evoke the original narrative but also meet the physical demands of the sport. The project proposes a collection of costumes that reinterprets the imagery of the princess and the peasant girl through contemporary solutions, incorporating appropriate fabrics, strategic ornamental details, and a sustainable approach. Thus, it aims to demonstrate how costume design can act as a bridge between storytelling, fashion, and technical performance, contributing to the aesthetic and performative enhancement of ice skating. As a result, the project presents a costume design proposal consistent with the theatrical and performative context, demonstrating the integration between artistic concept, functionality, and technical feasibility, highlighting the importance of costume design as a narrative and expressive element in ice skating shows.
