Abstract: Social skills play a fundamental role in individuals’ participation in various daily activities. For people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), there may be difficulties with communication, social interaction, and understanding certain social rules, making it important to develop tools that support the training of these skills. This project was developed as part of the Project II course and is a continuation of the work begun in Project I. The main objective was to redesign and improve the Social Skills Simulator, a digital social skills training simulator, with the aim of making it more accessible and better suited to the needs of users with Level 1 ASD. Based on an analysis of the limitations identified in the initial version of the Social Skills Simulator, several changes related to accessibility, usability, and user experience were proposed and implemented. Key improvements include the simplification of textual content, the reorganization of the interface, the use of everyday scenarios, the introduction of illustrative images, the implementation of more explicit feedback, and the creation of a contextual help system via the virtual assistant Lumi. Additional features were also developed, such as a user tutorial, a section presenting the simulator’s objectives, and mechanisms for tracking user progress. The Social Skills Simulator was developed using the Unity engine and the C# programming language, utilizing JSON files to manage interactions and the PlayerPrefs system for local storage of progress data. The functional tests conducted validated the correct operation of the implemented features and confirmed the implementation of the proposed changes. The results obtained enabled the development of a more accessible, intuitive, and suitable version of the Social Skills Simulator, contributing to the training of social skills in various everyday contexts and reinforcing the application’s potential as a tool to support learning and the development of social skills.
