Abstract
Abstract : Introduction: The aging process results in a decline in capacities and functionality, with cardiovascular diseases being one of the most common causes of mortality in this age group worldwide. Factors such as valve impairment, dysfunction or weakness of the musculoskeletal components of the muscle pump can lead to the emergence of diseases such as Chronic Venous Disease. Patients with this pathology seek treatment essentially to alleviate symptoms such as edema, discomfort, pain, heaviness, weakness, flushing and especially pain. However, effective action of the muscle pump in the presence of this type of dysfunction can play a compensatory role, making it possible to alleviate its consequences. In addition to muscle loss, aging is also related to decreased cardiorespiratory capacity, which negatively impacts both venous function and general mobility in the elderly. Objectives: To establish the relationship between the functionality of the venous muscle pump and cardiorespiratory resistance in the aging process in relation to the level of physical activity. Materials and methods: This case study consists of 7 cases. They will perform intervention on land, through classes, twice a week, for four weeks. The functionality of the muscle pump will be measured using a photoplethysmography sensor (BITalino®), allowing the calculation of the ejection fraction and residual volume. To assess cardiorespiratory resistance, the 6-minute walk test will be performed, which will be monitored, in turn, with the modified Borg scale and oximetry.
