Abstract
Abstract: This document is a synthesis of the entire process developed in the Final Project, during the 6th semester of the Degree in Interior Design and Equipment, within the scope of the Project curricular unit, taught at the Superior School of Applied Arts of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. For this project, the decision was made to rehabilitate the Santana café and minimarket, a familyrun commercial space. The choice is justified by the close relationship with the owners, the ease of access, and the emotional value the space holds. It is a location of great importance to the local community and holds strong potential for both functional and aesthetic enhancement. This report begins by presenting the historical context of the space and its current main uses. It then identifies the issues raised by users and staff, proposing appropriate solutions aimed at improving the organization, circulation, and overall image of the space. Throughout the document, photographs of the interior and exterior areas are included, as well as technical drawings provided by the owners, which were fundamental for the survey and analysis of the existing conditions. The project is structured in several phases, including contextualization, case studies, anthropometric and legal data, concept development, and finally, the presentation of the final proposal, with particular focus on the interventions in the café, especially regarding the service counter. This project aims to contribute to the appreciation and enhancement of a real space, using interior design as a tool for transformation and improvement of the everyday experience of its users.
